ST. JACOBS ABC ACQUIRES DUNDEE HEZBOLLAH

ELMIRA, ONTARIO – October 26, 2009 – Following being named 1st Sr. 2-Yr-Old and Intermediate Champion of the International Holstein Show at World Dairy Expo, St. Jacobs ABC is pleased to announce the acquisition of Dubeau Dundee Hezbollah VG-89 (DUNDEE x VG-88 Lee x VG-87 Broker with 233,000 Lifetime Production). DUNDEE Hezbollah was purchased from Budjon Farms, Lomria, WI and Peter Vail, Copake, NY.
Keith Wideman, St. Jacobs Board of Directors President stated, “With the high level of success we have achieved with our Judge’s Choice program and DUNDEE, it was a logical choice to combine these efforts in purchasing DUNDEE Hezbollah. The Judge’s Choice program is committed to providing dairy producers superior type, and we feel owning DUNDEE Hezbollah (one of the great type and tremendous pedigreed females in North America) will give us the opportunity to generate these genetics and grow our business.”
Tim Abbott, Director of Sales and Manager of ABS Canada/St. Jacobs ABC added, “When we saw DUNDEE Hezbollah at World Dairy Expo, we were blown away. Her tremendous frame and rib caught our eye, and her style is striking. While we loved these pieces of her, we thought her udder might be the best part with its high and wide attachment and great udder texture. While there were dozens of great young cows at Madison this year, she stood out as the finest opportunity for us. We congratulate the breeders and developers of this great, young cow and look forward to working with her.”
St. Jacobs ABC plans to use a variety of service sires on DUNDEE Hezbollah in hopes of creating elite males exclusively for the Judges Choice program. Pending availability, St. Jacobs ABC plans to sell choice of future calves and live female calves from DUNDEE Hezbollah.
DUNDEE Hezbollah is scheduled to be bred back for next year, and St. Jacobs ABC hopes to do IVF work with her as well. She will remain under the care of the Cull family at Budjon Farms in Lomria, WI.
Tom Cull of Budjon Farms added, “DUNDEE Hezbollah has as much future as any young cow that I have ever had the pleasure of being associated with. I have never seen a 2-year-old that exemplifies the perfect combination of strength and dairyness like she does. We would like to thank St. Jacobs ABC not only for their purchase, but also in trusting us to continue to care for her.”
