SPRING TOUR SHOWCASES OUTSTANDING PROGENY AND PROGRAMS FROM ABS

DEFOREST, WISCONSIN – June 8, 2010 – ABS Global held its 2010 Spring Tour May 17 – 20 in scenic Idaho and Utah. The tour drew 80 participants world-wide, including individuals from six different countries. On the tour, participants were able to view progeny within a wide array of dairy facilities as well as witness outstanding results of ABS’ programs including Reproductive Management System® (RMS) and the ABS Cornerstone® progeny test program.
“This tour has really shown the strength and consistency of the ABS product lineup anywhere in North America. It was very pleasing to see such owner satisfaction coming from various management styles. What better way to witness sire patterns than to walk those milking pens filled with ABS sired cows. This is a great way to identify the bulls that will work in Canada’’, states Chris Nooyen, District Sales Manager for ABS in Eastern Ontario.
Ian Hildon, ABS Regional Manager added, “With the large scale of the operations visited and their strong commitment to ABS genetics, we were able to view large groups of both Holstein and Jersey sired-progeny at each operation. This is a rare opportunity that allowed those on the tour to see the consistency of the groups and of the sire on a single operation. In addition to seeing progeny from ABS mainline sires, it was exciting to view and discuss progeny from a number of young sires and August prospects.”
Standout daughter groups included Holstein mainline sires 29HO10483 JAMMER, 29HO10493 BURT and 29HO10681 ALTON at Bettencourt Dairies and Jersey mainline sires 29JE3301 IATOLA, 29JE3307 SHOWTIME, 29JE3314 LEXINGTON and 29JE3346 JEVON at Aardema Dairies. Also, a number of Judge’s Choice™ daughters were also viewed at Pappy’s Farm in Ogden, Utah.
In addition to viewing progeny, this tour featured herds with elite infrastructures and management. This included visiting superior calf and heifer facilities at Millenkamp Cattle, Inc. and East Valley Cattle Company, LLC and transition cow operations at Aardema and Double A Dairies.
ABS Global would like to thank the following dairies for being a part of the 2010 ABS Spring Tour: Pappy’s Farm; Southfield Dairy; Millenkamp Cattle, Inc.; East Valley Cattle, LLC; Double B and Bettencourt Dairies and Double A and Aardema Dairies.
